The Beat-Down of All Shoot-’Em-Up Games

Quartering people on public places.
Bloody murders written and drawn on published pages.
Even shreddering “Jesus” on big screens for money.
Now shoot-’em-up games are killer’s honey?

After another rampage at a German school the topic of violence-gloryfiying video games, putting up teenagers that are said to be absolutely psychical stabil to kill random people and themselves is on everyone’s lips.
Games as ‘Counter Strike’, ”far Cry’ or ‘GTA IV’ are depicted as guides to kill people.
But media that transfers it’s consumers into the view of a murderer, killer, soldier or agent is already existing for a long time. Books, movies, paintings. [...] Violent scenes are illustrated in many different ways since human thinking.
So why of all should games be the media that causes rampages? It’s redicoulous.
And if someone says, it’s the interactivity of games, why did no one eat yellow balls while getting haunted by coloured ‘killer-ghosts’?
Media is not the source of evil. It needs deep psychical instability to make people imitate violent contents.
Not the media is the source. It’s the person himself.

Criteria for a good presentation

One of the most important things you learn at school or university is to do a good presentation. All your life you will need to hold speeches with or without visual support.
If you want to offer your audience some images or important lists of facts the best way to do this is by using a PowerPoint Presentation.
The following list will give you some help for creating a good presentation.

General presentation:

- be self-confident
- talk free and without reading
- the only thing you are allowed to read are your notes
- include your audience and their possible interests
- ask questions
- explain unknown words and facts
- don’t stand with your back to the audience
- be authentic and don’t only concentrate on rhethorical correctness
- use correct body-language
- concentrate your information to the main facts
- add a little bit of entertainment to your presentation
- avoid stammering, mumbeling and embarrassing talking breaks

Including visual support:

- you are the main presenter, not the beamer
- use animations, colours, pictures or even movies
- use short phrases and avoid long texts
- use a clear background
- sum up important facts
- let keywords appear one by one
- use clear font with good readable coulour

This is not the complete criteria for a good presentation. If you want to read more about it check out this site: http://www.sekretaerinnen.com/praesentation/praesentation.html

New blog created @ Seminarfach

G’day readers!

This afternoon during the Seminarfach we all created an own blog for writing down our learning activities and successes.

The topic for our fist blog has to be a commentation concerning the three topic for our next semesters which are “globalization; africa; migraton”. Sounds pretty normal, and that’s exactly what my critics say.

Well, that three topics really sound like those of the boring politics lessons. And I’m not a big enthusiast in politics.
But, as Mr. Donath said he’s doesn’t like politcs very much, too. So he told that e.g. he wants to use the topic “globalization” to talk about the whole world in general, without many political aspects. I think that’s a good compromise which makes this topic more interesting for me. It’s even the one I like most. We talked about africa and migration in too many lessons before. English, politics, geography. Everywhere the same. That’s pretty boring.
So my personal favourite of the three topics clearly is… drums… globalization!

But I can’t prevent the other ones, so I’m trying just to sit there and do what I have to do. Learning. At the end it’s all an advantage for my life.

Thanks for reading!

Daniel
